Columbus led the American
advance; he discovered the New World; he left a record of
persistence in spite of discouragement and of triumph over
all obstacles, that has been the inspiration and guide for
Americans ever since his day, and that has led them to work
on in faith and hope until the end they strove for was won.

This is a nice book written to the child.
I like how it refers the kids to the map to look at
routes, where Columbus lived, where he wanted to go etc.
It also engages the child by asking questions along the
way.
I reformatted this into book layout and
standard paper size for binders.

This is also a good book, maybe a high schooler could
use it as supplemental reading.
Here is a snippet from the Preface:
'I do not myself believe that it is wise to attempt, in
a book of biography, so considerable a study of the
history of the time. Whether it be wise or not, I have
not attempted it in this book. I have rather attempted
to follow closely the personal fortunes of Christopher
Columbus, and, to the history around him, I have given
only such space as seemed absolutely necessary for the
illustration of those fortunes.'
